DIRECTION OF HYTHE TOWN FC YOUTH FOOTBALL

Hythe Town FC would like to address recent discussions regarding youth football and the future pathway within the club.

Our position has always been clear.

We want to build a genuine, long-term pathway from youth football through to U23s and senior football under one clear structure and one club identity — Hythe Town FC.

Most importantly, we want ALL young players in Hythe to feel part of one football club, one identity, and one future. We believe every age group should feel connected to the senior side, the U23s, and the wider club as a whole — not separated from it.

This has never been about removing opportunities, dismissing past work, or creating division. We fully recognise and respect the effort, commitment, and time that coaches, volunteers, parents, and players have given to youth football in Hythe over many years. Young players from the area have progressed and achieved success, and everyone involved deserves credit for that.

The club also wants to make clear that this is not about claiming opportunities for young players have never existed in the past.

There have been talented local players who have progressed, youth teams who have achieved success, and occasions where links between youth and senior football have been created. Those involved deserve credit for their hard work and commitment to local football.

However, the club believes those opportunities have often depended on individual managers, relationships, or circumstances at the time, rather than a fully connected long-term structure across the entire football club.

Our aim moving forward is to create a clear and consistent pathway where development, communication, coaching standards, and progression are built into the structure of the club at every level — not something that happens occasionally or by chance.

This is about strengthening connections across all age groups so every young player understands the pathway available to them from the moment they join Hythe Town FC.

Football has changed, and the club believes the future requires a more connected and consistent structure to give local players the very best opportunity to develop and progress.

Our proposal was simple:
To bring all football activity together under one Hythe Town FC structure, where all age groups operate with a shared vision, shared standards, and a clear development pathway into senior football.

The aim was to create:
• Better alignment between age groups
• Consistent coaching standards and player development
• Stronger communication across all teams
• A unified football philosophy throughout the club
• A clear route from youth football into U23 and first-team football
• A culture where every young player feels part of Hythe Town FC from day one

We believe a successful pathway cannot rely on occasional opportunities or individual relationships alone. It requires joined-up structure, communication, planning, and consistency across every age group.

Having separate organisations operating independently, without the same overall structure, philosophy, and long-term development programme, makes it far more difficult to create a fully connected pathway for players.

Unfortunately, the proposal to operate fully under one Hythe Town FC structure was declined.

While we respect that decision, our responsibility remains to build the strongest possible future for Hythe Town FC and for young footballers within our community.

The club’s focus moving forward remains unchanged:
To create an environment where young players are developed properly, supported correctly, and given genuine opportunities to progress within a connected football structure.

This is not about “us and them”.
It is not about conflict.
And it is not about discrediting anyone’s past efforts.

It is about creating standards, structure, accountability, and long-term opportunity for the next generation of players representing Hythe Town FC.

We want every young player in the town to feel they are part of something bigger — a club they can progress through, represent with pride, and potentially go on to play for at senior level.

Hythe Town FC remains fully committed to building a positive future for football in Hythe and will continue working towards a model that puts player development, club identity, unity, and long-term progression first.
