Snodland Town 7 Hythe Town 2

Southern Counties East Premier Division

Saturday 24th January 2026

The Cannons were absolutely demolished as Snodland Town ran riot and slammed seven goals to win 7-2 on Saturday at Pontyns Field.

Manager Darren Beale brought back the two players who were unable to play in Challenge Cup game from the previous Tuesday with Henry Newcombe and Taurean Roberts starting. Gil Carvahlo came in for his debut and Will Dempsey returned following illness.

The game could not have started worse for the visitors as Snodland were awarded a penalty after only three minutes as the referee saw a handball in the penalty area. Up stepped Chris Alhassan who slammed the ball home. On 22 minutes the referee controversially reduced the Cannons to nine men as he sin-binned both goalkeeper Henry Newcombe and captain Mo Kamara.

Snodland took advantage of the nine men as Alhassan got his second as he slotted the ball past stand in keeper Folarin Awoleke. Steadman Callender gave Hythe some hope as he got one back on 43 minutes. He worked a neat one-two with Armani Jordan-Martin and ended by slamming the ball into the roof of the net.

However, a minute into first half injury time a foul just inside the box led to another penalty for Snodland which Alhassan planted the kick into the corner of net to complete his hat-trick.

The Cannons collapsed in the second half as on 55 minutes Nathaniel Olawole headed home from a corner and then three minutes later as the Hythe defence was sliced open and that left substitute Charlie Sheringham to round Newcombe to finish calmly.  Sheringham was to get his second and Snodland’s sixth on 65 minutes as Olawole sent in a deep cross into the path of the former Ebbsfleet United player close in on the far post and he made no mistake side footing the ball into the net.

The seventh came on 77 minutes as former Cannon Vance Bola added to Hythe’s misery firing home from close range to compound their misery.

There was a late goal on 84 minutes from the Cannons as Roarie Deacon sent in a dipping free kick that was tipped onto the cross bar by Snodland keeper and another former Hythe player Nathan Boamah, but the rebound came out to substitute Yusuf Rabbaj who following up nodded the ball home.

It was far too little and far too late in what was a very poor performance from the Cannons.
